A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF GIRARD, KANSAS, FROM THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 4 OF THE ENROLLED VERSION OF HOUSE BILL 2217 OF THE KANSAS LEGISLATURE PASSED AND APPROVED IN THE 2008 LEGISLATIVE SESSION.

Be it Ordained by the Governing Body of the City of Girard, Kansas:

Section 1.  The City of Girard, Kansas, by the power vested in it by Article 12, Section 5, of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby elects to exempt itself and make inapplicable to it the provisions of Section 4 of the enrolled version of House Bill 2217 of the Kansas Legislature passed and approved in the 2008 Legislative Session.

Section 2.  This Charter Ordinance shall be submitted to a referendum and shall become effective upon approval by a majority of the electors of the City of Girard, Kansas voting thereon in accordance with Article 12, Section 5 (c)(3) of the Constitution of the State of Kansas.
